Biodes

An extension of the concepts explored in the Land Poems, but this time zooming in on the smaller details, lifting colours and ratios from foodstuffs and other biological materials. A similar line, column, and grid structure maintains resonance with the rhythms of poetry whilst highlights the importance of cross-overs, combinations, and intersections. Although the compositions are photoreactive transcripts, quite literally, there is also emphasis upon ambiguity and metaphor. A tendency toward greater asymmetry is another common trait that causes happiness and satisfaction, like the right sequence of well-matched starter, mains, and dessert.

Combining a variety of flavours, textures, colours, for our dinner plates or bento contributes to joy and healthy nutrition. Bland foods bore us and we seek interesting and sometimes surprising combinations. Sweet, sour, salt, umami, and spice - very different flavours can all work together to create harmony. Five flavour groups suggesting a word that has five letters and usually appears only as part of bigger words. An ode to the ongoing biological energy cycles of growth and digestion. Life ensures their continuity ensures life continuing... producer-consumer symbiosis...
