About Remy

Remy is an artist and author of more than a dozen published books plus numerous features in national newspapers and magazines. He's an experienced story-teller, lectures on art, film and folklore, as well as being a Creative Consultant in Education for the Arts Council of Wales. He's been a writer in residence for several organisations across Wales including the Snowdonia National Park, National Trust, Culture Action Llandudno, and several primary schools.

He writes on a wide variety of subjects, regularly contributing to literary journal The Scrawl, arts publication The Signifier, and is a film critic for Frame Rated. He began his writing career as a press officer and journalist. Over the years, he's written books ranging from celebrity biographies, educational textbooks, novels, volumes of poetry and collections of short stories. Also a qualified teacher, he has 20 years experience as a college lecturer in Creative Arts and Media. Formal qualifications include a BA (Hons) Design (Audio-Visual), P.G.C.E., and MA Creative Writing (Script).

Remy's latest novel, This, is the first in an epic fairy-tale-fantasy series, This, That, and The Other, inspired by local folklore and is his first book for children and young adults. Written with Zel Cariad as creative consultant, This (parts 1 - 4) is published by The Red Sparrow Press and available in good bookshops and via amazon.

Remy Dean was born in Newport, Gwent, 1965, and now lives with his wife, daughter and dog in Snowdonia, the 'land of legends', where he enjoys a 'good panad' after long walks in the ancient woods.
